The room planner is one of the easiest ways to configure a room with furniture and accessories.  We recently just moved into a new house and had several empty rooms to fill.  The task was overwhelming and the cost of hiring an interior designer even more so.  I had a basic idea of what I wanted and what each room needed, so I began laying it out with Outrageous Interiors Room Planner.  Once I had a few layouts I liked, I emailed them to the store, and then set up an appointment for a free in-home design consultation.  Their designers helped me refine the layouts with measurements and furniture options.  I then went in to the store, selected fabrics and placed my order.  My family room furniture arrived just today and I was amazed at how everything fit exactly as we planned!  The whole process was easy and a great way to visualize a furnished room.

To use the Room Planner, go to "Services" page and click on "Room Planner".  A new window will open and follow the prompts.  By registering, you will be able to save various plans and email them to the store for assistance.  You can choose from a "Prebuilt Plan" or "Design Your Own", which is more of a blank canvas.  You enter your room measurements and a blank layout appears ready to fill.  Choose from different room types, as well as various types of furniture, fixtures, structural elements, etc. from the drop-down menus.  Each will give you a different assortment of pieces to choose from, and you simply click and drag the item onto blank room area.  Once there, click the item and you can resize by either clicking "i" button and entering measurements or holding one of the corners and dragging to the desired size.  Click, drag and rotate the element to wherever you want it to be in the plan.  When you're happy with the plan, click "Save As" and name it.  You can create several different versions and use "Save As" to name them differently.  Click "Share" to email the plan to a friend or an Outrageous Interior representative.  There are many more options in the drop-down menus, and playing around with the different choices will help define exactly what you're looking for.

Of course, if you find it a little overwhelming at first, call one of the stores and a designer will be happy to walk you through the whole process!

Furniture Trends 2010

Driftwood...it is not an official term for the new lighter finish that has replaced the deep traditional mahogany, but I think it is a nice descriptive term for the yummy light textured wood that you are probably falling in love with.  The good news is that it still has a very warm feel that you get from the dark stain of mahogany, because it is loaded with texture.  It is a great way to update your home by adding a touch of this with furniture or accessories.  It can easily be mixed into most environments.  It can be as simple as adding art that has a driftwood finished frame, or a statement piece of furniture.

The driftwood finish combined with the rich texture of the wood gives a sense of serenity.  Mixing the driftwood with creamy fabrics, heavy iron accents, a little antiqued mirrored furniture or accessories can create your own personal retreat.   Adding a touch of this to any room will add warmth and comfort.

This oak table is a great look in the lighter driftwood finish.

The rich texture of the wood is yummy!

Both of these pieces are part of our Outrageous Direct Imports.

We had them commissioned specifically for our clientelle.

Even the majority of the wicker pieces are available in this beautiful  finish.

These should be in stock in just a few weeks!

Our best selling chair from Miles Talbott is now available in the driftwood finish!

Okay...i'll admit it!  I am obsessed with window treatments!  Nothing adds pizzaz to a room more than the perfect window treatment designed to bring out the personality of the room!
One might say that window treatments are like diamond earrings with the proverbial 'little black dress'!
They add flair, fill the room with warmth, and quite literally turn a wonderful room into a dazziling, creative expression of your style!  Sooo....if a picture says a thousand words you will love what our designers have to say!

I have been looking forward to this event for a very long time, and now it is right around the corner.  What a great way to spend a day with girlfriends. We will host local artisans at our four locations with all hand-made items.  I am as excited as you to shop their unique art and gifts! (Mother's Day is just two weeks away!) We have been busy recruiting our talented clients and their friends to come and share their fabulous finds  with us for the benefit of Camp Hope, and to promote local business.  What better way to make this happen than to partner with the artisans in our own community?

Camp Hope, and Kidz2leaders is a local ministry that benefits the children of incarcerated parents.  Camp Hope started as a one week camp 10 years ago, and has grown into a year round mentoring program with Kidz2 leaders.  Our family has been actively involved in Camp hope for 8 years, and it is near and dear to us.  If you are looking for a great place to serve your community, check out their website at www.kidz2leaders.org.  It is a great place for your whole family to serve, adults and teens alike!
